SAFE will have rescued pets for adoption Saturday at the First United Methodist Church on King St from 10-4

SAFE Pets were rescued from shelters when their time had run out. They are "special" animals and may need time to adjust to a new environment .If you have the time and the heart to rescue one of our wonderful SAFE Pets please come and visit us at the church on SAT . If you give these guys the time they need - they will steal your heart away!!!

Dogs looking for homes will include:

Cocoa, Summer and Tiger - 3 teeny, tiny Chihuahuas who are the cutest little ones you have ever seen!!!

Elvis- 4 month old Black Labrador mix pup. He is quiet and such a very wise puppy!!Loves the water !!

Handsome- 6 yr old Housebroken white Poodle. He was very loved- but his owner could no longer care for him.

Ben- 2 yr old lovable and good natured Rottweiler . He is great with other dogs and loves kids too!!!

Eclipse (Bob) - 1 1/2 yr old Yellow Labrador / Golden Retriever mix. he is oh so very handsome and well behaved!!!! Housebroken and very lovable.

BooBoo- 1 yr old English Setter mix. He is such a happy fellow. he loves to shake hands and wash faces.

Lucy - 6 yr old Labradoodle- she is good with kids, cats and other dogs and Housebroken too! Non Shedder!!

Chester- 11 month old Chocolate Labrador/Chesapeake Bay Retriever x pup. He has never met a stranger!!!

Nola- 1 yr old Chihuahua/Daschund mix. Very spunky and active- Housebroken and just 15 lbs!!!

Sammmi the precious totally Housebroken and lovable senior Beagle Lady. She is PERFECT! She is Housebroken, healthy and happy- loves to go for car rides and enjoys quiet company!!

Lady the chubby and lovable buff Cocker who is Housebroken and very good natured. She just finished eye surgery and is ready for a great new home!!

Mandy is a senior Rat Terrier- easy , loves everyone and is healthy and good natured!!!

Missy is a senior Jack Russell who is Housebroken and good with kitty cats!!! She is a very wise girl

The most precious "puppy" on earth is Max a Million- he is a 1 yr old Lab/Aussie mix who has just turned 1 yr. he is 65 lbs, well trained and good with kids and other dogs. He is looking for a family as his foster mom says he needs a mommie and a daddy too!!

Sasha is a 2 yr old Airedale mix who is Housebroken dn good with other animals. She know lots of commands and is a really cool and active young lady, but well trained.

Cats/Kittens include

Dixie- Absolutely stunning and friendly solid white longhair kitty. She is a real beauty!!

Stripes- declawed Siamese Lynxpoint - gorgeous and very social.

Reba- a real "talker" Reba is a 7 yr old Declawed and lovable gray domestic shorthair with emerald green eyes. Her owner passed away!!

Petunia - 2 yr old Maine Coon - adorable, lovable and beautiful

Mother Martha- 1 yr old - nursed all her kittens and now she needs a home

Missy- black and white Hemmingway kitty. She is longhaired and very beautiful

Patches- 3 yr old Siamese Torti point - owner could no longer care for her-well cared for and loved!

Deliah- 1 yr old lovable and very social Siamese - gorgeous girl

Happy Cat- Solid white 18 lb DECLAWED beauty. He is a bit shy and scared as he was a well cared for indoor only kitty and is now badly missing his family. He would never hiss or bite, he just needs a quiet home to "come out of his shell".

Lots of 12 week old kittens!!

These wonderful rescue dogs and cats will be looking for new homes at the First United Methodist Church on King and Riberia between 10-4 pm.

DOGS:
Duke is a very handsome and well behaved 5 yr old Weimaraner who was given up because his owner could no longer care for him.He is Housebroken and a 75 lb sweet boy!

Milo and his sister Lady are 5 yr old buff Cocker Spaniel twins who are chubby and happy and Housebroken . They love kids and are absolutely adorable!! Their owner lost their home.

Blossom is a 1 1/2 yr old Rat Terrier who is quiet and dainty and just 13 lbs.

Bambi is a 1 1/2 yr old Jack Russell terrier who is 15 lbs and and is happy and well adjusted.

Romeo is a 4 yr old 9 lb Chihuahua who has not had an easy life. He is looking for a patient person to help him adjust to being loved and cuddled. He would never growl, but has been on his own for some time and is not used to being loved.

Chester is an 11 month old Chocolate Labrador Retriever who is absolutely a doll, but needs an active family! Everyone is his friend - no one a stranger!!! He loves to swim and play with toys, He is good with older kids and young dogs!!! He would be an excellent beach buddy.He knows commands -sits, shake and down

Delilah is a 2 yr old 7 lb terrier who is Housebroken and looking for a quiet environment with a patient family who will let her get accustomed to her new home. She is adorable and loving , not recommended for children

Max is a 1 yr old 65 lb Lab/Aussie mix who is great with older kids, other dogs and needs a happy and active family to always love him. What a face and happy disposition!!!

Mother is a tiger kitty who nursed all of her kittens and now needs a great new home of her own. She has had a hard life and is blind in one eye- but is very lovable and has the best purrsonality in town!!!

Reba is a 6 yr old Declawed domestic shorthair kitty who loves to"talk". Her owner passed away and she needs a new forever home!

The word is that a SAFE member is working very hard to get signed footballs from Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow !!!!!

SAFE will be at Winn Dixie on the Island on Sat from 10-4 and at the First United Methodist Church on Monday from 10-4.

Dogs looking for homes will include:

Max- 4 yr old Schnauzer who is 18 lbs and quiet and loving. He loves to go for leash walks and is a great size for anyone. He had to be shaved to his skin - he was sooo matted that no one knew what kind of dog he was and then- out came this little schnauzer boy!!!
Queen Anne is a 6 month old 6 lb Chihuahua who is playful and very pretty.
Prince is a 4 1/2 month old tan and black German Shepherd pup with the prettiest ears you have ever seen! He is a real cutie, will be a large dog when he grows up,. He needs a responsible patient home to see him through his puppy yrs.
Roscoe is a 2 yr old Wheaten Terrier who is adorable and loving . He is good natured and very, very handsome.
Madison is a white Labrador Retriever mix who is playful and pretty. She is great with kids - would love to be a beach dog!!!
Gidget is a 2 yr old 10 lb solid white Chihuahua who is quiet and well behaved. What a great companion and she is oh so pretty!!!
Maybell and Marcia are Daschunds who are looking for homes to begin a new life. One is dapple and one is black and tan. Both are sweet and 15 lbs. No children for these girls please.
Ben is a 3 yr old Llassa-Affinpincher-??? mix. We don't know what his mix is- we do know he is a lover and a sweetie!! He is 22 lbs of love

We had 14 adoptions yesterday! Great job everyone!!!!!! 14 pets are in their new homes and all because you took the time and made that extra effort to be a foster parent, dog handler or kitty cuddler!!!! Thank You All!!!!

Saturday- Horse Show at Southside Saddle Club from 10-2
Monday- First United Methodist Church 10-4

Not all dogs will be suitable to attend the horse show!!!!

DOG HANDLERS AND KITTY CUDDLERS ARE NEEDED AT THIS EVENT!!!

Meet Braidy (see picture). He is a 75 lb chubby and happy Husky mix who is totally Housebroken . He knows sit, shake, down and speak and he Loves The Water!!!! Looking for a large dog for a family pet? Braidy is ready with lots of love and slobbery kisses. NO cats please!!

Braidy and all of these other dogs , cats, kittens and pups will be up for adoption Saturday at the First United Methodist Church on King St and Riberia from 10-4. They are all spayed/neutered, have all vaccinations and dogs are checked for heartworms- cats FIV/Aids.These pets are residing in foster homes while waiting for their own forever home and their foster parents can "tell you all about them" at this event. Come and fall in love. Oh, there is plenty of parking and.... the church is having a huge rummage sale too! Come and support their efforts and find some "treasures"!!

Dogs for adoption include:
Charming- Charming was left to die in a cage without food or water- He was in horrid condition when SAFE took him. Charming is feeling better and is too active for the couple who adopted him. The good news is he is totally housebroken, loves to play with toys and is great with other dogs. Charming is a 1 yr old 12 lb Poodle/Terrier mix. He is looking for an active home with patience and love to see him through his puppy years.

Trudy- She is a 4 yr old 40 lb Cocker Spaniel who is calm and quiet and looking for an adult home. What an absolute doll!!!

Fozzie is a 3 yr old Poodle/Shihtzu mix who is 18 lbs and is white in color. He is searching for a companion and someone to keep him handsome

Sophie is a 4 yr old 10 lb Rat Terrier who wants to be some body's baby. Looking for a lap dog? She is the one!

Oh Gee is a 9 month old Yellow Labrador Retriever mix. He is playful and goofy and will fit into any family situation. He is 35 lbs and growing!!!

Samantha is a 9 month old Black Labrador Retriever . She is absolutely gorgeous , happy and healthy. She is 55 lbs and needs to put on a bit of weight!!!

Harry- he is going to be a big , big boy when fully grown. He is a very submissive 10 month old Aussie/Shepherd mix. He is 65 lbs and growing and has the cutest puppy face. Someone was mean to him and he is very submissive- Help him regain his courage !!! Shower him with love!!! He will repay you with years of loyalty and devotion!

Jackie is a 2 yr old 11 lb Jack Russell mix. She is elegant and lovable.

Paul is a 2 yr old 10 lb Chihuahua/Mini Greyhound mix. What a well behaved guy he is. He has the face of a Chihuahua and the body of an mini greyhound mix.

Coco is a 1 yr old 14 lb Pekinese mix. He is very quiet and a well mannered guy. Cute, cute, cute!!!

Patches is an 8 lb 6yr old Chihuahua mix who is lovable and very quiet and well behaved. He is chocolate and white.

Missy is a 35 lb Lab mix who is "easy to handle" and will fit into any family. She is 5 yrs old and will be the perfect companion for anyone!!!

Onyx is a 2 yr old 11 lb Chihuahua/pug mix. He is happy,.lovable and huggable!!!

Oreo is another "perfect " lady. She is a 6 yr old Schnauzer mix and is soo sweet. She can sit and shake- is totally Housebroken .

Darma is an absolutely stunningly beautiful 10 months-1 yr old German Shepherd. She is still a puppy and needs attention and patience. This dog is such a beauty!!!

Mandy is a 6 yr old toy fox terrier who is 13 lbs of fun. She loves people, loves to go for walks and is good with other dogs and cats too!

Francheska- 10 month old Lnyxpoint Siamese- already a mom and recently spayed- ready for a home of her own.

Pops is a 10 yr old grey tiger cat who has only 3 legs , but gets along just fine. He is loving and healthy.

Missy is a black and white domestic longhair cat who is 2 yrs old and is elegant and happy.

Tammy is a 1 yr old tiny Persian mix. She solid gray and is quiet - great with other cats.

Jazz and Jessie are 6 month old tiger kittens who love to play and play and purr and purr!

Sasha is a 1 yr old Calico/Torti who's very outgoing and lovable.

Bananas is a 6 month old Ragdoll mix who is a stunning little girl. She is best as only kitty, but will adjust as long as she is queen!!!

Shania is a 6 yr old declawed solid black kitty with big emerald green eyes. Her owner has passed away and she needs a new home.

Jax is a huge gray domestic medium hair cat who is very submissive and gentle. He is declawed too!

Pets for adoption include Charming (shown right) who is ready for a home or long term foster. He is totally crate trained and very lovable and social. He needs grooming now that he has hair and lots of tlc. He is going to make someone a wonderful, fabulous pet! He is about 13 lbs now and loves to play. He is a 2 yr old Poodle or Poodle mix.

Hoping Noreen can find it in her heart to come and groom him at the market!!!

Also looking for homes are:
Chihuahuas 5-7 year old Punkin and Patches - 8 lbs each. All's they want is love!!!

Stormy is a very lean and lanky 11 month old Shep/Lab/Greyhound mix who is a great dog for an active family. No little ones please as she is very strong and playful. She would make a great beach buddy and is soo eager to learn.

How about Hoagie? His foster mom says he is very easy to care for, lovable and very social. The word is he just received a new doo too!!! He is 2 yrs old and 15 lbs.

Oscar is a 1 yr old 15 lb Terrier mix who is loving life at his foster mom's, and adores the beach!!

Pinky is a 15 lb Jack Russell terrier who is small and chubby. She came in loaded with fleas and so has some itchy skin that she went to see the DR for yesterday. Hope she finds a loving home who undertands.

Frankie the Poodle is just 9 lbs and is 2 yrs old. He is a lover !!!

Dusty the Chihuahua/Mini Greyhound loves to play and is doing great with his foster family who has 3 children and other dogs!!

Looking for a big dog? How about this big mush?Housebroken playful Brady is a 2 yr old Siberian Husky/Shepherd/lab mix who is 75 lbs of fun!! He loves toys and is good with other dogs.

We need dog handlers and kitty cuddlers for all of our wonderful pets looking for homes.

Oreo is a very intelligent black and white terrier mix who is housebroken and about 15 lbs. he is 6 years old. Also up for adoptions this weekend at the Arts and Crafts Fest (West Gate) will be:

Dogs:
Terriers - large and small including Wheaten
Absolutely gorgeous German Shepherd
White Lab/Husky mix. Great family pet- EXCELLENT WITH KIDS, CATS AND OTHER DOGS TOO!
Bichon- Housebroken , healthy senior- wants to be spoiled.
Chihuahuas x 4- All adorable and healthy
Pomeranian- Good natured and ready for "the good life"
Corgi /Pug/Chow- What a little cutie!!! Looks like a little teddy bear and is soooo good natured!
Cocker Spaniel- quiet and loving-

Persians - we have 3!!
Orange Tabby
Torti
Manx and Bobtail
8 weeek old kittens
many of the adult cats are declawed!!!!!

In addition to the above we also have Persian cats (some declawed), a gorgeous shy and quiet Siamese, a Cameo Maine Coone (declawed), a huge orange tabby who loves to talk (declawed) , 2 Daschunds, A chubby Pug, a 6 month old solid white Husky mix and a 4 month old baby golden Retriever/Labrador mix pup.

Special Poodle "CHARMING" Needs Special Home

I am Charming. I am a 2 year old, 10 lb. white poodle who won't be coming to the adoption event on Saturday because I am still "under construction". I am a lover, a faithful companion, a good watchdog. I have beautiful white teeth. I am crate trained, I am good with other dogs, kids and cats too, and I love to prance on a leash for long walks.

I was left to die in a crate and was found with scabs all over my body from fleas and infections. My feet were scalded from urine and I was emaciated.

I forgive the human who did this to me and I look forward to a kind and loving home where I can be pampered and loved while I heal. I just know there is someone out there who needs me as much as I need them! I promise to always be a good boy if you just give me the chance.

Buddy (aka Slim ) is ready for a home! He spent his early years chained to a tree- companion dog found dead

Buddy was terrified and bone thin. He was rescued and then kept as evidences so that his abuser could be prosecuted. When Buddy came to SAFE 2 months ago he was physically healthy and had gained weight ...but he has spent the last 2 months healing his heart and spirit with his wonderful foster mom Penny.

Buddy is a 1 1/2 yr old Labrador mix. He is totally HOUSEBROKEN and loves women. He is good with female dogs and older children. He could learn to love the man in the family . What buddy needs is a someone committed to giving him the time he needs to adapt to his new family and routine. He is an indoor only dog. We feel he would do best as only pet so that he could bond with his owners.

Buddy is waiting for his hero to come along and fall in love with him - someone who is going to be sure that Buddy never, ever suffers again in his lifetime.

April 4 & 5- Rhythm and Ribs- Francis Field. We are planning a 50/50 Raffle to raise funds for an emergency medical fund. Often dogs and cats come out of animal services and need additional care, such as heart worm treatment (dogs), dental care, and other medical issues that need to be addressed before adoption. This fund will be specifically used for this purpose.

Our Buddy (aka Slim) is in desperate need of his own home with special and very patient people willing to give him the time he needs to come out of his shell. He is a 1 yr old Black lab who was left chained to a tree . His companion passed away in front of him and he was very traumatized and shy. He has been with his foster for 2 months and is Housebroken and good with other dogs(loves them) and with women- unsure of men. He is leashed trained and loves to play (after he gets to know you). Please help this precious boy if you possibly can!

Buddy is a 5 yr old 22 lb Tibetan Spaniel/Pekinese mix. He is adorable and well cared for.

Harley is a 6 month old 9 lb Pekinese mix . She's small and very precious.

Bo is a 1 yr old 12 lb Mini Pin x . He is adorable, super intelligent and very lovable.

Mabel is a 2 yr old jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua x. She's good natured and 18 lbs full grown.

Buddy Too- We're not really sure what Buddy is, except we know he is adorable. He's a 3-year old black terrier mix. he has a cute docked tail and loves to play ball. He's 19 lbs full grown. Maybe a Schnauzer/Poodle/ Jack Russell x?

Luke the Black Labrador is a gorgeous family dog who will bring some lucky family yrs of joy. He is Housebroken and good with kids, cats and other dogs. He is a beautiful black Lab who is good natured and happiest when he is being loved and adored by his family. Kids R ok- no babies because of his size.

Sadie is a Border Collie / Spaniel mix who is super intelligent and is looking for an adult family to watch over and also to protect. She is just 28 lbs , is obedient and loving.

Princess is a 9 yr old 6 lb Mini Pincher who is just a complete little Princess. She has limited vision , but gets along fine.

Lady the Beagle is the perfect family pet . She's totally housebroken and is good with kids, cats and other dogs. She does treasure her quiet time and would like a quiet and loving home. If you are looking for an "easy" dog - come and fall in love with Lady's big brown eyes.

Baily is a 10 lb Shihtzu who has just finished surgery to have his eye removed.He is great with other dogs and cats and will be ready for adoption soon.

Rolloy is a very healthy senior Black Lab mix who is a great companion for any family- any family without a kitty. He is housebroken and good with kids and other dogs- NO CATS please.

Sunshine is a Labrador/Shepherd/Corgi mix who certainly deserves a wonderful new family. She is quiet and calm and learning that life is not all bad. She was netted by AC and then put in a run to wait for euthanasia. She was deemed not "worth" naming or acknowledging . She is my foster and I just love her - even after just 1 day. She needs a very special home with patient and loving people willing to give her the time she needs to adjust.

CATS FOR ADOPTION:

Chester and Houdini are very handsome and outgoing solid black kitties who love to be loved. (Chester does have a bit of white on his chest and belly) They are good with other cats and love attention. They came from a person in Jacksonville who had to give up her pets due to foreclosure. They are very smart, too!

Curley Sue is a 4 yr old spayed and declawed 17 lb Maine Coon who will be beautiful when her hair grows back. She was very matted and had to be shaved .She is a gorgeous kitty.

Shania is a 9 yr old small and quiet declawed solid black kitty who's owner has passed away. She needs a quiet home- please lets find her one soon.

Reba is a 9 yr old gray tabby declawed who's owner has passed away- she is outgoing and loving.
Jessie ,Jazz and Ivey are 5 month old teenagers who are full of love and fun !!! Come and meet them and fall in love.

Handsome is a 9 week-old Bobtail who is just a baby looking for a loving forever home.
Beauty is his sister- a beautiful and happy gray and white kitten - only 9 weeks old'

MAGIC Needs a Home!

Magic is a sweet female silver shaded white Persian with big green eyes who was rescued from Jacksonville Animal Control this week. She is a tiny little girl and is around 7 years old and a real sweetie!

Magic was severely neglected by her prevoius owners, and came to us with very bad hair mats. In fact, her whole body was matted and she had to get a haircut. She looks funny now, but her hair will grow back, and she will be a stunning kitty!

Magic is in a foster home now and is a little shy of loud noises and men. If anyone is interested in adopting Magic, please email Joanna at cause4paws@aol.com.

Magic is spayed and tested and vaccinated. Like all SAFE Pets, she needs an indoor-only home. She needs someone who will take the time to groom and brush her so her little body never has to be all full of mats like that again. She loves be be fussed over and has a lot of love to give.

Seafood Festival & Cooks for St. Pat's Event

Is there anyone who can show up at the Seafood Festival about 9:30 and help me set up in the morning? We are at the west gate- near Castillo and US 1. Fosters please try and be there around 10-ish!

Also- we are good for transport and brownies for St. Pat's event!! SAFE volunteers are awesome- each and every one of you!

****We could use additional people with crock pots to cook some red potatoes and/or cabbage for St. Pat's Day Fundraiser. Let me know if you are interested. I can pick up Monday afternoon- or you can deliver to Maryann's house on Tuesday morning. Either way is perfect!

Princess is just one of the many dogs and cats that will be looking for homes this weekend at the Azalea Fest at the Palatka Riverfront. If you are volunteering: I will know exactly where our booth will be after 7 pm tonight and will email everyone. Princess is a 9 yr old tiny Mini Pincher who is Housebroken , good natured- but has limited vision . She gets along just fine and is looking for a person who will take her into their home and heart and love her and enjoy her for the precious special little well behaved girl that she is.

Dogs up for adoption are Buff the Cocker Spaniel, Rollo the Black Labrador, Chili the Rat Terrier, Lego the Chihuahua, and Lucy the Chihuahua,.

SAFE'S NEUTER COMMUTER TO FCNMHP!

SAFE Pet Rescue and First Coast No More Homeless Pets http://www.fcnmhp.org/ are on a mission: to end the euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats in our communities through sterilization, adoption and education. The 2 groups are working as a team to offer low cost spay/neuter services to residents of St Johns County. Each 8 seconds a healthy adoptable animal is euthanized in a shelter across the US because there are simply not enough homes for these unwanted animals.

On Tuesday , March 24 th SAFE Pet Rescue's Neuter Commuter will take its maiden voyage to FCNMHP brand new Spay/Neuter Clinic in Jacksonville. This clinic is the 4th largest clinic in the U.S.!

SAFE is now making appts for March 24. This day will be cats only. Felines must be 8 weeks old and weigh 2 lbs. Ferals are welcome and may arrive in traps. Non-ferals should be in carriers.

SAFE will meet appointments in the STAPLES Parking lot on US 1 between 7:20 and 8 am. and then cats will arrive back that afternoon between 4:30-5 pm.

Prices are as follows and include Rabies Vaccination:
Male Cats $40 - Female Cats $50 - Prices include rabies vaccine
Multiple pet discounts are available -Pay reg price for first cat and receive $5 discount on any additional cat for the same day.

Planning For Azalea Fest March 7-8 in Palatka

Please let me know if you will be available for the Azalea Fest nest SATURDAY and/or SUNDAY, MARCH 7-8 in Palatka, and what hours so that I can begin scheduling our booth. We want to be sure we are completely manned at all times!

Carol N. will be doing chair massages (SAT ?SUN? and what hrs?) and if anyone else has ideas -(catnip bags?) please let me know. It is a very nice festival and after you do your "duty"at the booth, you will enjoy walking around! Lots of art and good food! If anyone has any black cages we can borrow, as well as white tables or white table cloths we can use (or an extra tent!) please let me know also.
We want to bring as many of our pets as we can!!!

SAFE "Lucky" St. Patrick's Day Benefit for Mobile Pet Adoption Unit

St Paddy's Day is March 17 and you know you just HAVE to eat corned beef n cabbage to bring you good luck throughout the year!

SAFE volunteers will be busy cooking again in an effort to raise funds for the SAFE Mobile Pet Adoption Unit , which will keep homeless pets nice and cool during the long Florida summer.

On March 17 SAFE will be preparing "Lucky" Corned Beef & Cabbage Lunches and is encouraging businesses to order these delicious and lucky lunches to support SAFE.
The reason they are "Lucky" is that each lunch ordered will come with a FREE RAFFLE TICKET! At the end of the day one lucky SAFE supporter will win a $25 gift certificate to the Oasis Restaurant and a Super-Duper "Lucky Dog/Cat Gift Basket" for their pets!!!!
Lunches will include 1/4 lb. of hot corned beef, fresh rye bread, cabbage , potatoes , brownie and drink! Oh, and of course mustard and..... lots of good luck to the special supporters of SAFE pets! All for $7.50!!! Take-out orders of 5 or more include free delivery.

SAFE Weekly News! 14 Adoptions Yesterday!

SAFE had 14 adoptions yesterday at the First United Methodist Church, thanks to the wonderful people at the church and hardworking SAFE volunteers and foster homes!!! What a nice day! Welcome and thanks to all who participated!

Thanks to Carol Mussoline, and Phyllis and Richard Grubb, $234 worth of delicious citrus was sold with all donations going to the newly created SAFE Heartworm Fund to treat heartworm positive dogs rescued from shelters. Citrus will be available next Saturday, too!

Mobile Unit news! The "office" has been created in the Mobile (thanks, Dixie Custom!), the windows have been tinted (thanks, Pat Barton!) and all the seats are out. Pet enclosures are being ordered! We are still in need of donations for a generator and more pet enclosures.

Special, special thanks to Jackie and Henry Dean for donating the Mobile Unit!!!

SAFE would also like to that Carole and George Smith, Sandra and Bunky Roberts, Carol Newby, Marty and Jeannie Miller, The Kearns, and JJ & John Golden for contributing pet enclosures!!

MANY DOGS NEED HOMES THIS WEEK TOO!!

Whether you want a very small or very large pet- SAFE has both and in between, up for adoption this Saturday at the Methodist Church on King Street, downtown St. Augustine.

Two 11 month old Great Pyrenees pups will be looking for separate forever homes. These beautiful huge white dogs are very friendly and love the water! They were raised with kids and would be great with older children.

For those who prefer the little ones- 6 small Chihuahuas were taken from a puppy mill and are looking for patient adult homes. These are all "special " dogs, are eager to learn that there is life outside of what they had known! They are all learning to walk on a leash this week , but will take weeks of bonding and training. They range from 3 lbs to 10 lbs and are in various colors.

How a bout a Lab /Shepherd mix whop loves to play ball? Or a border collie mix who is super intelligent? Both are completely housebroken!

Beautiful and wonderful cats/kittens are also looking for home including Siamese, Manx, Snowshoe, Maine Coon and more- some declawed. SEE THEIR PHOTOS IN THE LAST 2 POSTS UNDER THIS ONE!!

Many of the dogs we rescue are heartworm positive and so a fund has been set up to help save their lives. 2 local business people have stepped forward to donate goods. All proceeds will benefit SAFE Heartworm fund.

A truck load of freshly picked super sweet navel oranges will arrive at the church at 10 am and you can fill a bag for just $5.

Hand blown glass art pendants will be on sale for $20 . These are beautiful and will come in a variety of styles and colors.

A Kodak Easyshare Camera, Thin blankets, clean pillows, towels, scoopable kitty litter, bleach and laundry soap, collars and leashes are all needed and can be brought to this event.

Bailey - 9 yr old Shihtzu who is easy to get along with and easy to love.

Daisy - the black and white domestic longhair who had a great new home, until an allergic child situation forced her to be returned

Casper- the solid white domestic shorthair is deaf . He purrs up a storm and is so very well adjusted
KC is a 1 yr old Black Manx who is super outgoing and affectionate.
Sammy - Senior orange domestic longhair, PICTURED IN POST BELOW, front declawed and very friendly. Needs homes with no other cats but OK with gentle dogs

"SAMMY" Still Needs a Home!

Sammy is a very friendly senior cat in great health whose 90-year-old owner could no longer care for him. She was going to have her vet euthanize him for this reason, but the technician contacted SAFE and the kind tech brought him to us with the owner's permission, all the way from Clearwater! He comes with his own litter box and favorite toys.

He is awaiting a new home and has been around gentle dogs but does not like other cats. He needs a home where he can be the kitty king! He is very affectionate and great companion! He is FRONT DECLAWED, indoor-only, and up to date on all shots, & FELV/FIV neg. Please email foster mom Joanna at cause4paws@aol.com if interested in adopting Sammy.

"Bull" Needs a Home!

Bull met this little girl and her brothers at last week's adoptathon. We thought he had a home, but her mom needs a non-shedding dog since one of the children have allergies.

Dee Dee and Little Bit are just 2 or the many dogs and cats looking for new homes today at the First United Methodist Church ! Please spread the word- there are more that need to get out of Animal Control on Monday!

I will list some of the breeds we have available today- Shihtzu(I will learn to spell this one day when I have time to do so), Miniature Pincher,Shepherd Mix, French bulldog mix, Yellow Labrador Retriever, Havernese?/labradooodle?, Jack Russell Terrier and more. Cats and kittens include Snowshoe, Flamepoint Siamese (declawed), Calico, Elliot( Mr. Purrsonality kitten) , giant orange tabby (declawed- owner passed) and more!

If you would like to help homeless pets and also eat some fantastic food, be a part of SAFE Pet Rescue's Valentines Weekend Lasagna & Cake Bake Sale, February 13, 14 & 15!

SAFE will deliver wonderful hot homemade pans of lasagna (feeds 6-8) and/or delightful and delicious homemade cakes or cupcakes to your home or office during the lunch or dinner hours. Deliveries are available in Palatka, St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra areas.

Lasagnas can be meat or veggie and are $35 each. Cakes include Jean's Very Special coconut, Pineapple Upside Down (they look like works of art and taste even better), German Chocolate, Dump Cakes , Valentines Day cupcakes and special order. DOGS FOR ADOPTION:

Pepper the 7 yr old Miniature Pincher whose owner passed away. Housebroken and loved his entire life - he doesn't understand what has happened and needs a new human to bond with. Extra healthy !
DeeDee is a 2 yr old Chihuahua/Daschund mix who is cute as can be when she gets to know you. She is 13 lbs and has big Chihuahua ears! She is looking for a quiet, adult home.Housebroken !
Duchess is a 3 yr old black and tan Daschund who is just 8 lbs and needs lots of love. She is looking for a quiet , adult home .With a bit of TLC she will be a wonderful companion for yrs to come.Housebroken !B
Buttons is a 1 yr old 11 lb Shihtzu who is go natured and playful. She came in matted and miserable- (they didn't even know what breed she was), after a shave- she is now a happy little 11 lb pup.
Davinci is The Perfect Dog for an active family or person. He is a 50 lb Shepherd mix who is extremely smart , clean and FUN!!! Davinci loves to play ball, Frisbee, go to the beach and chase the waves!!! He can sit and shake and knows down and he has THAT FACE!!!! If you know someone who is looking for a dog they can teach to bring the newspaper in, then this is THAT dog! Housebroken too- He lived in an apt in Jacksonville!
Buddy is a 1 yr old Labrador mix who is looking for a quiet and understanding person to be his hero and teach him to be a confident adult dog. he was chained to a tree his entire life, but in spite of this his foster mom says he loves to play with her other dog and is gaining confidence each day!
Perry the Pomeranian - totally housebroken and easy to handle- what a handsome guy he is. Full of love!!!
Also coming today- 3 new Chihuahua x's , Daschund x and beautiful Husky!!! and ......a beautiful Yellow Labrador.

CATS FOR ADOPTION include:

ELLIOT- The best kitten ever! 11months old black and white outgoing and curious!
CHASE - a 10 yr old very, very large Orange Tabby whose owner passed away. He is declawed in front!
SAMMY - A senior long haired orange tabby, front declawed, who came all the way from Clearwater when his 90-year-old owner could no longer care for him. He comes with his own toys, litter box. He has had a full exam and is even microchipped. We prefer to find him a home with no other cats. He is OK with small dogs.

Spay-ghetti Day a Success!!

Greetings....
On Tuesday, 296 Spay-ghetti meals were sold by SAFE at our Spay-Ghetti Fundraiser. After expenses, $2,006 will go towards spaying animals in need!!! SAFE will use $1,003 towards spaying animals rescued from shelters and the remaining $1,003 will go to the wonderful local veterinarians who have stepped forward and will be performing surgeries for the needy starting on Feb 24!

Thanks go to many- The First United Methodist church continues to be supportive beyond belief and special thanks to church member Nanette (definitely could not have done it without her knowledge). The Leadership of St Johns County headed by Assistant Chief of St Augustine Police Dept Joni Mathis were also invaluable- could never have pulled it off without their help. Thanks of course to the hardworking , multi talented SAFE volunteers(who today will all be receiving new foster children- no rest for the weary) !!! And ..... thanks to all of you wonderful people who supported our efforts and ordered Spay-ghetti meals- I hope they were absolutely delicious!

Welcome to SAFE Pet Rescue's News Blog! I am very excited to introduce you to SAFE, which is an acronym for Saving Animals From Euthanasia . We began this new rescue effort in September 2008 in order to save pets from euthanasia at high kill shelters in the North Florida area. Each week hundreds of healthy and very adoptable dogs , cats, kittens and pups are euthanized at animal control facilities simply because their time has run out. We feel this is wrong and will focus our rescue efforts on pets in these facilities, visiting the shelters and taking them home to begin new lives. Since September, we have rescued over 200 animals, and did 51 adoptions in the month of January alone.

All of our adoption pets are spayed and neutered prior to being adopted, and have their first shots. We require a $60 adoption donation for cats and a $75-$95 donation on dogs to help cover our veterinary expenses.
